Excerpts from City Of Boston - Media relations

About 10:30a.m. on Saturday January 19, 2002, two Boston Police Officers thwarted a daring robbery of the Fleet Bank, 8 Allstate Road, Dorchester. A suspect entered the bank, which is located in the Stop and Shop, and passed a threatening note to the teller. The teller turned over an undetermined amount of cash to the suspect. The suspect fled the store on foot. A Boston Police Officer, who was performing a paid detail at the Stop and Shop, was alerted to the incident and gave chase. Another Boston Police Officer, who was performing a paid detail at a nearby department store, also joined in the foot chase. The Officers apprehended the suspect as he was attempting to flee the scene in a waiting vehicle being driven by an accomplice.

Because of the Officers' diligence and teamwork, both suspects were arrested and the money was recovered.

Arrested and to be arraigned in South Boston District Court on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 are: Anthony Hurd, 26, of Boston, charged with Armed Robbery (Bank)  and Jyrom Turner, 26, of Roxbury, charged with Armed Robbery (Bank).
